Our Legal Team
Jeff Zweifel is a 1987 graduate of Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was admitted to practice law in the state of Minnesota in 1987, and is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association. He received a bachelor’s degree in 1984 from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN. Mr. Zweifel has a general law practice background with an emphasis in real estate law. He has also acted as general counsel for a title insurance agency for more than ten years.
For the past three years, Mr. Zweifel has focused his law practice on settlement negotiations with lenders for individuals who are selling distressed real property. He is the managing principal of the firm’s short sale representation department. Mr. Zweifel is a frequent lecturer on the topic of short sales.
Mr. Zweifel is married and the father of two children. His interests include fishing and other sports. His home town is Marshall, Minnesota.
John Markve grew up in Buffalo, MN and received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota. In 1995, John graduated from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. He was admitted to practice law in California in 1995 and Minnesota in 1996.
Prior to forming Markve and Zweifel, PLLC in 2006, John worked at an estate planning boutique law firm located in Wayzata, MN, a prominent condominium / townhome association law firm in Eden Prairie, MN and a general practice law firm in Plymouth, MN.
John represents individuals and businesses in the areas of estate planning, probate, small business matters and townhome association law.
John lives in Maple Grove with his wife and three children. When he is not at work, John likes to spend time with his family.
Kassandra Heinrich grew up in Orono, Minnesota. After completing degrees in Finance and Marketing from the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business, she returned to Minnesota to attend law school. In 2014, Kassandra received her law degree from Hamline University and joined Markve & Zweifel where she works in the areas of estate planning, probate, and real property transactions.
Prior to practicing law Kassandra worked in marketing and compliance roles for educational institutions, financial services and health care organizations. Kassandra also received her Masters of Divinity from Bethel Seminary in 2018 and serves with churches, ministries and non-profits around the Twin Cities.
Cindy Vedder came to MZ Law in 2015 with many years of real estate experience from managing dozens of Realtors in her husband’s brokerage. She is a real asset to our Short Sale Team as she efficiently leads the file processing department. Her duties include scheduling of short sale consultations for homeowners, ordering title work, working with the short sale sellers and referring Realtors in document collection and file completion before the offer can be submitted to short sale lenders. Cindy has an excellent way of providing short sale sellers with the necessary information and guidance necessary to ease their concerns during this difficult time for them.
Cindy and her husband Mark have 2 grown children, one living in Seattle, WA and the other in Minnesota. When she has time off she enjoys time with family, friends and “grand-doggers”, traveling, listening to live music and a nice cozy bonfire.
Short Sale Program Coordinator / Legal Assistant
Wendy Haisley became a licensed Realtor in 1978 in Grand Forks, ND, specializing in residential real estate sales after attending the University of North Dakota. In the middle 80’s, Wendy managed a large team of women in the direct sales industry in the Dakotas, Montana, and Minnesota. In 1987, she moved with her family to the Twin Cities and worked as a licensed Realtor again in Minnesota for 20 years focusing mostly on new construction residential home sales.
Wendy joined Jeff Zweifel in 2009 to help build the short sale program at Markve and Zweifel Law Firm. What began with just the attorney and his assistant has now grown to be the largest short sale negotiation team in the state of Minnesota representing over 3,000 homeowners to successful closing of their short sale transaction.
Wendy commonly lectures at real estate brokerages throughout the Twin Cities on the topic of short sales as well as instructing classes bi-weekly for real estate agents that refer their sellers to the law firm for representation. She also works short sale files herself to keep up to date with the most current changes with lenders, mortgage investors, and seller eligibility requirements. The part of her job she enjoys the most is calling the homeowners to inform them their short sale was approved and the debt forgiven.
When she can get away from the office, Wendy can be found on the golf course working on her game or at home spending time with her family that includes her husband, Gale, four grown children, and ten grandchildren. She enjoys cooking and baking and her specialty is her homemade Christmas cookies.

Chad Reverman grew up in Plymouth, Minnesota, and graduated from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2017. He was admitted to practice law in Minnesota in 2017. Before joining Markve & Zweifel, Chad had experience with business and intellectual property law, emphasizing patents, trademarks, and licensing. Using that background, Chad works in estate planning, probate, real property, and intellectual property. He is happy to work with first-time trademark and copyright filers to protect their rights.Outside of practicing law, Chad received his Bachelor's degrees in Physics and Philosophy from the University of Minnesota Morris in 2013. Chad lives in St. Paul with his wife, three dogs, two birds, and two rabbits. He enjoys spending time with his wife, baking, board games, and reading.
